WTYSL was born during the DSLR revolution, the moment when cinema-quality cameras became small and affordable enough that you didn't need a broadcast crew to make something beautiful. Before that, Western mainstream media controlled who got to film, and what got told. We didn't think they were doing a great job. So we went instead.

That shift in technology became a way of working: small crew, big geography, close to the ground. Cinematic with a budget. Making something out of whatever was available. It worked, and we never stopped. Seventeen years on, that instinct has taken us to more than eighty countries.

What has expanded is everything around the edges. New formats, new ways of telling stories, campaigns alongside films, content that lives across more platforms than anyone predicted. At the center, the same thing: go to where the story lives, earn the right to tell it, and build it with the people who are living it. From the start we chose to film change rather than suffering. We begin where something is already working and let that carry the story.
