About

Lack of Love follows Tiffany Simpson, a child sex trafficking survivor - who has spent 9 years in a Georgia jail after being forced by her pimp to lure another teenage girl into his violent trap.

Narrated by Tiffany from prison, the film exposes a dark reality across America: trafficking victims being prosecuted for crimes committed against them. Produced in partnership with survivor organization Karana Rising and Dressember's Survivor Justice Initiative, the film is both a personal story of resilience and a call to action, because believing survivors today means less victims tomorrow.

Karana Rising is a survivor organization working to end human trafficking and to free survivors who have been criminalized for crimes committed against them. Together with Dressember, it launched the Survivor Justice Initiative, which gives incarcerated survivors direct legal, social and wellness support. The campaign behind Lack of Love helped change Georgia law. In May 2022, Senate Bill 565 allowed trafficking survivors to petition to vacate convictions that resulted from their exploitation, and in November 2022 Tiffany's convictions were vacated and she was released from prison.

What Took You So Long
A small illustrated house with a vivid magenta roof glows faintly against a pure black background, while blue lines of rain fall all around it. The image is childlike in its simplicity, yet charged with loneliness and exposure.
A single pale pink rose in full bloom is captured in sharp close-up against a soft-focus background of dark green foliage and warm bokeh light. The image is lush and delicate, its beauty underpinned by a sense of something fleeting.
Three illustrated figures sit on the ground in a loose circle, one in pink and magenta, two rendered in near-silhouette, with a small school building floating above them. The grey atmosphere and turned-away figures suggest disconnection rather than companionship.
Two large grey silhouetted adult figures lean toward each other above a tiny child suspended between them, each gripping one of the child's hands. Against a stark black background, the scene carries the weight of both tenderness and precariousness.
A pink-haired illustrated figure sits with eyes closed as two blue and purple figures press close against her from either side, arms wrapping around her body. The image is ambiguous, the embrace feels both suffocating and desperately sought.
An illustrated pink figure lies curled on its side at the centre of the frame, surrounded by a spiralling vortex of ghostly reaching hands and feet. The composition pulls the eye inward, conveying a descent with no end.
Two illustrated magenta fists rise together, bound at the wrists by heavy white chains against a dark grey background. The image pulses with defiance and confinement simultaneously, resistance that cannot yet break free.
A hand-drawn illustration of a newspaper, rendered in chalk-white lines on dark grey, features a pink-highlighted headline and a sketch of a young woman with long hair. The illustration captures the strange distance of seeing one's own story told as news.
