About

For the RESCCUE programme, coordinated by the Pacific Community, we developed a series of animated explainers translating complex environmental economics into clear, engaging visual narratives for Pacific Island Countries and Territories — unpacking how tools like green taxes, ecosystem valuation, and innovative financing can strengthen climate resilience in one of the regions most vulnerable to climate change.

Rather than relying on dense policy language, we used motion graphics, illustration, and dynamic typography to simplify economic analysis and show how integrated coastal management, biodiversity protection, and sustainable financing intersect. Designed to support policymakers, practitioners, and local stakeholders alike, the animations made abstract fiscal concepts tangible, translating environmental taxation and economic reform into stronger, more resilient Pacific communities.

RESCCUE (Restoration of Ecosystem Services and Adaptation to Climate Change) is a regional programme run by the Pacific Community (SPC) and funded by the French Development Agency and the French Global Environment Facility. It strengthens the resilience of Pacific Island Countries and Territories to climate change through integrated coastal management, ecosystem restoration, and innovative economic and financial mechanisms.

Two illustrated characters stand together against a warm peach background scattered with question marks, a woman in a yellow and navy dress with a red flower in her hair, and a man in a yellow and blue patterned shirt. Their gentle expressions and the surrounding punctuation convey openness, curiosity, and an invitation to ask questions.
A delicate illustrated island scene, mountains, palm trees in gold and pink, and gentle waves, sits at the centre of a large white oval against a pale blue background. The miniature landscape has the quality of a precious thing held in the hand, serene and self-contained.
A loose flock of bright green illustrated parrots soars diagonally across a pale blue sky dotted with soft white clouds. The birds move freely and in loose formation, filling the frame with motion and lightness.
An illustrated woman in a bold yellow and navy patterned dress stands with eyes closed and a small smile, holding a green card, surrounded by stylised golden foliage against a warm sandy landscape. Her calm expression suggests quiet confidence in the face of a complex topic.
An illustrated orange balance scale holds a stack of gold coins on the left and a tropical island scene, palm tree, beach, gentle waves, on the right, with a green environmental icon at the pivot. The tilted scale visualises the tension between economic gain and natural value.
A close-up of an illustrated figure in a vivid yellow and navy patterned garment, framed by stylised foliage in orange and blue, with a green banner overlaid reading Concrete Measures. The bold crop and warm palette give the image a sense of purposeful action.
A warm illustrated tropical landscape at sunset shows two buildings beside the water, a traditional thatched stilted house on the left and a modern low-rise on the right, surrounded by pale palm trees and mangroves at the water's edge. The scene is quietly idyllic, the two structures coexisting in the same coastal space.
An isometric grid of identical illustrated pink buildings tiles the frame in repeating diagonal rows, interspersed with small dark green palm trees on a pale mint background. The pattern effect transforms individual structures into a system, a visual shorthand for scale and replication.
